Work Experience

Jeanette has been selling her art for over thirty years in arts and crafts shows, and galleries. She has been a freelance artist for over fourteen years selling her art to greeting card companies. For twelve years she has been teaching watercolor painting near her home and has also given workshops, lectures, and talks, to groups and organizations. Among them are the Norman Rockwell Museum in Massachusetts, Chautauqua Institute, Chautauqua, NY and the Academy of Art Museum in Maryland. Recently her local classes have been through the Fayetteville, NY, YMCA arts program.

About Her Work

Most of Jeanette’s paintings are fairly detailed and depict country and nautical themes as well as flowers. She occasionally works in a more loosely painted style with bright colors. She also works in graphite pencil. When asked what her mission statement is, her reply is what most of her customers say about her work, “These paintings give me a sense of peace.”

Awards and Honors

Her art has won numerous awards including the Newsday award on Long Island, NY and the WCNY award in Syracuse, NY. Her art was selected from thousands of entry’s for the Splash 8 book by North Light Books. Her art has appeared on the cover of Farm Life Magazine, Martha Steward Living magazine, and the Home Forum page of the Christian Science Monitor. Dreams on the Oregon Trail, by Barbara Linsley won the Willa Cather Award [2009]. The artist’s pencil illustrations are in this book.

Artist and Author

Jeanette has had articles published in Greetings, Inc. magazine and The Artist's Magazine about the business of art. Her first book, Painting Greeting Cards for Fun and Profit, by North Light books was published in 1999. Her second book, published by Sterling Publishing, Co., Inc. 2006 is Greeting Cards from A to Z. Her third book also published by Sterling comes out in 2007, Watercolors 101, Techniques for the Absolute Beginner.

Education

Jeanette received her degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, majoring in Textile Design. She has studied with well known artist mentors such as the late John Rogers and Andrew Stasky.
